God’s CallingA city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
Our vision of urban ministry is not simply another service ministry to the impoverished. While there is a need for this work, it is only one small aspect of a thriving urban ministry. Urban ministry also cries out for deep theological discussions and exploration, powerful worship experiences, a sense of community, and an ethic of care and compassion. It cries out for ministry that is vibrant and dynamic, that gives life to those inside and outside its walls. Our denominational commitment to Biblical discipleship, peace and justice is a natural fit in the city.
God has called the talented and faithful group of people that make up the Cincinnati Church of the Brethren to do something truly special for our city, for our denomination, and for our God is before us. With God’s blessing and our hard work we have the ability to truly be a city on a hill.
 | Why the city?Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7
